Facility Receives a €550,000 Investment

A Slovenian solution, improving organization of work in hotels, got a boost for business expansion from the Austrian investment fund Speedinvest.

Facility entered the Slovenian startup scene through the Smart Cities ABC acceleration program, which concluded a year ago. The startup’s potential was clear from the start, and it managed to raise €150,000 in investments already last year. Since then, the team has been working hard on its worldclass product and acquired over one hundred clients – hotels from Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Austria, such as Bernardin Hotels, Union Hotels, Best Western Premier Hotel Slon and Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel in Slovenia and Valamar Hotels, Park Plaza Hotels and Esplanade Zagreb Hotel in Croatia. The hard work paid off, and the team is on a good way to starting a revolution in the organization of hotel operations.

Werner Zahnt, Partner and Investment Manager at Speedinvest, the largest Austrian investment fund, said: “Facility were able to convince us with their outstanding team and product, addressing a real pain point of the hotel industry – an industry in the middle of disruption that still relies on very analog processes today. Facility enables to realize massive efficiency- and service quality-improvements of hotel operations. The first potential customer to whom we showed the solution wanted to buy the company immediately. So we are really excited about working with the founders on the further development of Facility.”

luka_jenn_bwLuka Berger, CEO of Creatriks, which developed Facility, and the creator of the application, worked at a hotel in the Yellowstone National Park as a student in 2012, noticing countless possibilities for improving often slow and chaotic work processes at every step. After his return to Slovenia, he and his business partner Aljaž Ketiš developed Facility, a solution in which all hotel employees, from directors to maids, can obtain the information they need for efficient work with just a few clicks. Maids can for example check which rooms need cleaning, inform the maintenance about any repairs required in rooms, or notify the reception desk that the room is prepared for the next guest in just a few seconds. Supervisors can monitor the work progress, which is updated in real-time, and have complete control over the course of work.

Grand hotel Bernardin in Portorož, which has 241 rooms, saves 200 person-hours monthly by using Facility, while the inventory loss at Union hotels in Ljubljana, which offer 574 rooms in total, was cut by almost 15%. Hotels using Facility identify issues that require attention three times more often, and are able to swiftly improve customer satisfaction.

Our next goal is expanding to even more countries and at least one thousand hotels in the coming year, and we are planning to enter the US and other markets. We are especially pleased that the word about our solution Facility has already spread across the industry, and hotel managers now frequently approach us with the desire to test the application. This serves to show that we are on the right path and that Facility has become an essential tool in the hotel industry,” said Luka Berger.
